Spanish language and literature

The Department of Castilian Language and Literature coordinates the objectives, content and assessment criteria of the area in the different educational stages, adapting the curriculum to the related cycles. For this, start from a fundamentally communicative conception of matter, so that monitors the development of skills related to reading comprehension, speaking and writing and spelling and grammar. These competencies are exercised from not only literary texts but also from an informative nature in general.

In addition, the department proposes a number of additional activities to bring students to the world of language and literature: among them is the recent establishment of a theater workshop, and the organization of school field trips related to the subject (attendance at plays, places associated with writers in the area...) and the annual call for a poetry contest and short story on the occasion of the celebration of World Book Day.

The promotion of reading and writing as vital tools for acquiring knowledge in all areas will be strengthened through activities such as the development of annual literary competitions, workshops and entertainment activities for reading, author visits and talks by authors from Malaga, as well as the development of a school newspaper.

From this department also coordinates the area of Latin.
